(L-R) Bloom Farmers, Abbie & Lynea celebrate an impressive harvest at a farm party

The holidays are past, but I feel similar anticipation as we await spring and make wish lists of plants we’d like to grow. This month, we ordered seeds for both the Bloom Farm and the Hope Garden. We mostly order from Johnny’s Selected Seeds, and the occasional item from Idaho-based Snake River Cooperative. We will purchase cover crops in a bit from Idaho Grimm Growers. Another great source for home garden growers is the Wood River Seed Library, housed at the Hailey Public Library. We order now because we need some fairly large supplies, which can get sold out.

Once we receive the seeds, I put them in a refrigerator. I also sort through any seeds from previous years, combine, share with friends, etc. Feels good to ‘clean house’ during these slower months. Get in touch if you have questions about varieties and preferences for our climate! We’ll be back in touch in March when we start seeds indoors, in advance preparation of transplanting in April! Stay tuned.
