a free screening of the hottest food-waste movie around…
WHAT: Just Eat It, A Food Waste Story
WHEN: Wednesday, October 28, 6-8pm
WHERE: Liberty Theater, Hailey
WHY: Because food is too important to be wasted…
Join us for drinks, appetizers from The Ram’s chef Hal Jardine, rescued banana bread,“Just Eat It” film screening, and a food rescue discussion.
Filmmakers and food lovers Jen and Grant dive into the issue of waste from farm, through retail, all the way to the back of their own fridge. After catching a glimpse of the billions of dollars of good food that is tossed each year in North America, they pledge to quit grocery shopping cold turkey and survive only on foods that would otherwise be thrown away. In a nation where one in 7 people is food insecure, the images they capture of squandered groceries are both shocking and strangely compelling. But as Grant’s addictive personality turns full tilt towards food rescue, the ‘thrill of the find’ has unexpected consequence.
Chef Hal Jardine from The Ram will be creating rescued food appetizers and 8th grade Community School students will be making banana bread out of rescued bananas from Atkinsons. There will be a short food waste discussion following the film. Complimentary drinks will be served. Please RSVP by calling 208-788-0121 by October 21.
