Calling all Cooks & Nutritionists!cooking matters

 

We need your help!  Starting in April we are offering a special nutrition and cooking course called, COOKING MATTERS.  Open to clients of The Hunger Coalition, The Advocates and St. Luke's Center for Commmunity Health, this 7 week course empowers participants with the skills and knowledge to prepare healthful meals.  Please email Hallie or call 788-0121 to find out how you can be a part of Cooking Matters this spring!

Volunteer Team Highlight:  Warehouse Sorting Team

Every box of cereal, every can of soup, every single non-perishable food donation made to our Yellow Collection Bins has to be individually sorted and placed on a specific shelf in our Food bank Warehouse.  Your donations make it into the hands of hungry local families in thanks to to the tireless efforts of our Warehouse Team!  People like Mary Ellen Card, Tammi Clifford, Mila Lyon, Terry Owens, Sue Petersen come every week to sort through hundreds and hundreds of pounds of essential food donations.

OUR AMAZING VOLUNTEER ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2011!

Brought more than 87,000 pounds of fresh food to the Warehouse for distribution through our Mobile Food Bank.hailey volunteers

Helped put the equivalent of almost 154,000 meals on the tables of local families and individuals facing hunger.

Stuffed over 4,000 bags of easy-to-prepare, shelf stable foods for hungry students in need of sufficient nourishment over the weekends during the 2010-2011 school year.

Created resumes, cover letters, and business cards for hopeful entrepreneurs and small business owners.
